Medical Student Financial Need

Keep education accessible!

Your donation helps meet student financial need

One of the greatest strengths of the Faculty of Medicine is our ability to bring together students from diverse backgrounds. Our medical students, for example, are drawn from as varied cultural, educational and life experiences as we can see in a city like Toronto.

What our students have in common is the challenge of financing their education. Tuitions at Ontario medical schools have increased exponentially since the mid-1990s. Coupled with Toronto’s cost of living—higher than any other city in Canada—our students face greater financial burden than their peers at other universities.

In fact, the vast majority of our medical students face unmet financial need. During the 2004-2005 academic year, 68 per cent of students received non-repayable grant assistance from the Faculty.

We are committed to ensuring that no student offered admission to our programs will be unable to enter or complete due to a lack of financial means. Alumni donations help keep education accessible to our students. Large or small, your donation is important and much appreciated.  With your support, we can continue to attract the best and brightest medical students.
