Loans
The MAA grants interest-free loans to medical students who meet the criteria. Repayment begins one year after graduation, and the loan remains interest free as long as the loan is not in default. If you can establish financial need, you may qualify for an MAA no-interest loan in the amount of $2,000.00 per academic year.
To apply for an MAA loan, please contact us to receive an application form, and set up an interview with our Loans Officer.
Bursaries and Awards
Most MAA awards and bursaries are granted through the regular Faculty of Medicine Awards process. Most of these awards come from endowed funds established over the years.
The MAA/OMF Ontario Medical Student Bursary Fund provides additional financial assistance. Bursaries of $2000 have been awarded through the Faculty of Medicine since 2001, and will continue until the end of the project.
General application to Awards and Admissions for funding in the fall and spring automatically includes an application for all bursaries, including those sponsored by the MAA.
Elective Transportation Grants
Elective Transportation grants are available to all medical students to help pay for transportation costs for travel to clinical electives.
Please contact us if you would like an application form. Please be aware that these grants are for clinical electives only. Electives must be two weeks or more in duration, and applications for these grants must be submitted before travelling. Applications are reviewed twice a year (in November and May).
To receive an application form, email or phone the MAA, or come by MSB3249 to pick one up.
