If you are planning a class reunion, the MAA can HELP!
Initially, we provide two types of class lists: a WORD mailing label list, with all alumni who are alive and have addresses. Another EXCEL class list, which includes address, telephone contact, email, of all class members, including those who we have recorded as deceased. You can have a look at it and have the MAA make any obvious corrections in the database before your first mailing goes out.
When your committee has decided on a tentative date, time, etc., we can assist with two, maximum three mailings to the class. If mail is returned, we will search for the person and resend if appropriate. In the first class mailing, we will insert a page from the MAA asking for News, changes of address, emails, etc, and list of hotels in the Greater Toronto Area if you have not decided on block booking rooms in a hotel . We also provide our email and phone contact numbers in case class members have inquiries. We are happy to assist with help at each level.
A coordinator might be able to help you some time after the 1st or 2nd mailings go out to tabulate the results and finalize all your catering arrangements. Some classes do this; many do not. Most just assign a member of the organizing committee to handle the money part. Some classes have access to a website designer, and have a website built for their reunions for ease in communication and information exchange.
In the last couple of years, some reunion classes have opted for a half-day or full-day
Continuing Medical Education event. I have helped them with reservations for the Medical Alumni Lounge (catering, registration), and lecture halls (for CME presentations: AV and room booking), as well as referrals for setting up a
CME.
We will soon have pages devoted to reunion announcements, reports, and photographs, as well as links to any class reunion web sites (if you will have one).
If you would like to book accommodation or arrange events at a midtown Toronto hotel, here is a
list of hotels. Some classes opt to have all of their reunion events at a hotel. Others just book a venue for a dinner and dance (one-evening event).
